I was interested in communicating a sense of shared human anxiety related to the individual's sense of or self-awareness of their own mortality. I wondered to what degree this type of emotion was perhaps a precursor to psychological constructs like nihilism, anomie and social disillusionment, all of which may be constructs unique to human cognition. I further wondered how this anxiety affects the individual's behavior and their needs structure; how these elements effect the way we form interpersonal relationships and social structures; and how this may adversely affect human regard for a natural world that seemingly cannot intimate its inherent worth to us--at least in terms we can understand.
